Creating a safe, inclusive, bully-free environment at M.R. CITI Public School
Anti-Bullying Committee
This policy prevents bullying at M.R. CITI Public School. All students have the right to study in an environment free from intimidation where any form of bullying is unacceptable.
Definition
Bullying is intentional aggressive behaviour that involves an imbalance of power or strength. It includes verbal, written, physical, social/relational behaviours, and targeting a person or their property.
Scope
Applies to all students (Nursery–XII) on school property, in buses/bus stops, on field trips, athletic events, school-sponsored programs, and off-campus events authorised by the school and accompanied by staff.
M.R. CITI Aims
- Promote a secure and happy environment free from threat, harassment, and bullying.
- Increase awareness of bullying behaviour across the whole school community.
- Devise school-based measures to prevent and respond to bullying.
- Inform pupils and parents of expectations and foster a partnership to maintain a bully-free environment.
- Make staff aware of their role in fostering knowledge and attitudes needed to achieve these aims.
Preventive Measures
Procedure for dealing with bullying supports both the bullied and the bullying pupils:
- 1Proper record maintenance.
- 2Appropriate action based on severity and context.
Contacting parents/guardians of all pupils concerned
- •Investigation.
- •Feedback to all concerned.
- •Sanctions as per policy.
- •Referral to relevant professionals (school counsellor, Anti-Bullying Committee, Coordinators).
Capacity Building
Continuous professional development: Workshops and awareness sessions are organised to sensitise staff to the prevention of bullying and reporting of incidents within classrooms and playgrounds.
Complaint boxes: Installed at multiple locations. Feedback is collected by disciplinary in-charges to initiate appropriate action.
